All who have become Christ’s representatives after hearing and believing the gospel/good news of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, immediately became a “vessel” of the Holy Spirit.
But, imagine with me, if someone came along who wanted to offer you a healthy, hearty drink containing a multitude of body-enriching nutrients with the most amazing flavors you could imagine.
You offer the only glass you have. But it becomes evident very quickly that although the glass has been used multiple times, it has never been thoroughly washed; only slightly rinsed a few times.
You offer the glass to your guest and they rescind their offer. It’s not that they don’t want to share, but because they know you won’t be able to taste and enjoy all the marvelous, rich flavors it contains.
They know from experience that the residue caked at the bottom of the glass will turn their quality substance into a slimy, unsavory, and unsanitary drink unfit for human consumption.
This is an opportunity to examine how well you are washing, purifying, nurturing, and fortifying the vessel of God, which is YOU & YOUR BODY within and without.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
