Extend An Invitation

Sometimes we struggle because we are attempting to manage our lives on our own terms. But as children of God, how often are we inviting Jesus to whatever the situation is? Or, how often are we asking God to fix the problem according to what we believe is the solution?

Have You Invited Jesus Into Your Situation?

My grandchildren give me a vivid picture of this. From the babes (under 5yo) to the young adults, their attempts at independence is both laudable for the confidence they exhibit, and fearful because of their lack of experience. Time always presents an occasion for me and their parents to interject the safety words, “…let me help you.” In these parental rescue attempts, my grandchildren far too often resist the assist, not understanding they lack either the skill or the experience to recognize the potential dangers I and their parents know are ahead.

God’s children can be like my grandchildren. Far too often, we are operating independently from God trying to figure everything out on our own, instead of INVITING THE LORD into the situation. I’ve had to gain some of my experience the hard way, but I learned. It’s taught me that it will end up working out better when we do as Jonathan McReynolds sings … by inviting Jesus into our ‘SITUATION.’

  2. I sometime find my self trying to figure something out ,even after I have told the Lord ,”I will call on Him at all times”,for me,this is definitely a stable .

  3. That is such a simple concept that we need to appropriate initially at the start of our day, and then renew it as the day, with the situations arising, progresses. Perhaps Proverbs 3:5,6 is the inspiration.

    1. A truly worthy practice that I believe God desired for us when Proverbs 3:5-6 was written to help keep our spirits unburdened by the everyday issues of life. He did say that in this world we’d have tribulation but be of good care because He overcame the world (John 16:33)
